2012 Golden Goggles Event Supports the USA Swimming Foundation
The annual Golden Goggle Awards not only honors and celebrates our U.S. National Swim Team, it serves as an important fundraiser for the USA Swimming Foundation. Proceeds from this event benefit the USA Swimming Foundation's mission to save lives and build champions—in the pool and in life.
Thanks to USA Swimming, $300,000 in proceeds from the 2012 Golden Goggle Awards has been granted to the USA Swimming Foundation. An additional $60,000 was raised as a direct result of the USA Swimming Foundation's silent auction held in conjunction with this annual event. Since its inception, the Golden Goggle Awards have provided over $1.9 million dollars in funding to the USA Swimming Foundation who uses these resources to help grow and sustain their Make a Splash initiative and provide important financial support to the U.S. National Swim Team.
Our sincerest thanks to everyone who supported the 2012 Golden Goggle Awards and Silent Auction with their donations and purchases of auction items, seats and tables. You have helped us make a difference in the lives of so many with your support!
2012 Golden Goggles Recap
November 19, 2012
The Broadway ballroom in the fabulous New York Marriott Marquis set the stage for the 9th annual Golden Goggle
Awards for the celebration of our U.S. Olympic team, fresh from the London Games where they topped the medal
podium by bringing home 31 medals. It was all about the team in 2012 where their signature moment of the Games was a music video shot in the days leading up to the Olympics. To the delight of the crowd at this sell-out event, it was only fitting that this close-knit group of 49 athletes, coaches and support staff be introduced on the heels of Team USA’s video rendition of Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe”, which created a viral sensation on YouTube with over 15 million views since its' debut last summer.
But it was their performance in the pool that truly cemented a place for them in U.S. Olympic history with their 16 gold, 9 silver and 6 bronze medals - representing nearly 30 percent of the total medals earned by all American Olympians at the London Games. What better place to honor this very talented group of Olympians than the 2012 Golden Goggle Awards.
