Athletes Executive Committee hosts outreach event
On Thursday, Sept. 12, the Athletes Executive Committee teamed up with Peter Marshall, former world record holder and U.S. National Team member, and the non-profit he is associated with, Feeding Children Everywhere, to host an outreach event for the athletes attending the USAS Convention in Garden Grove, Calif.
Sixty-six athletes packaged 10,000 meals for a school in LA where 99% of the students are on government food-assistance. These meals are sent home with the students over the weekends and holidays to ensure they have healthy meals, similar to the meals they receive for breakfast and lunch while attending school.
The athletes had a great time participating in races to see who could package meals fastest while creating new friendships and learning about the needs of students around the country.
Feeding Children Everywhere is a non-profit organization that mobilizes and empowers people to make a difference by giving healthy meals to hungry children. The USDA estimates that 16 million kids are hungry in the USA, and Feeding Children Everywhere wants to help solve that problem. For more information, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
