Five Cities Named Finalists in Make a Splash for Water Safety Contest

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The USA Swimming Foundation and Phillips 66 have chosen five cities as finalists in the Make a Splash for Water Safety Video Contest. The winning city, which will be chosen by public vote, will become the sixth stop of the Make a Splash with Cullen Jones Tour presented by Phillips 66. Fans can vote either online or in person at the USA Swimming Aqua Zone outside of the Olympic Team Trials – Swimming. The winner will be announced July 1.

The finalist cities are (in alphabetical order):
• Brunswick, Ga.
• Irvington, NJ
• Landover, Md.
• Memphis, Tenn.
• St. Paul, Minn.

The Make a Splash with Cullen Jones Tour presented by Phillips 66 is a national water safety tour designed to educate parents, kids and communities about the importance of learning to swim. Starring the Olympic gold medalist, the tour stop will include a visit to a local school, camp or community center and a once-in-a-lifetime swim lesson with Jones. Additionally, a swim lesson provider in the winning city will receive a $5,000 grant to provide free learn-to-swim instruction to local children. Four “runner-up” cities will receive learn-to-swim equipment packages, including swimsuits, kickboards and swim caps.

The Make a Splash with Cullen Jones Tour presented by Phillips 66, kicked off in March with stops in Houston and New Orleans. The tour will continue in August and September. Dates and locations are as follow:
