Gillian Ryan and Allie Szekely closed out the 2012 Speedo Junior National Championships with their fourth wins of the week Friday in Indianapolis. Ryan finished first in the women’s 1500m freestyle with a meet-record time of 16:14.67, while Szekely won the women’s 200m IM with a time of 2:15.98.
Ryan also finished first in the 800m free, 400m free and 200m free earlier in the week. In addition to her win in the 200m IM Friday, Szekely finished first in the 400m IM, the 200m breaststroke and the 100m breaststroke.
Other winners on the final night of competition included Andrew Seliskar in the 200m IM (2:03.39), Cierra Runge in the women’s 50m free (25.97), Santo Condorelli in the men’s 100m free (22.90), and Janardana Burns in the men’s 800m free (8:07.80).
Runge and Condorelli were the queen and king of the freestyle sprint events this week, taking both the 50 and the 100-meter races. Seliskar won both IM races, while Burns also came out on top of the 400m free on Wednesday.
In relays Friday, Kathleen Baker, Alexandra Martelle, Elsa Welshofer and Nora McCullagh of SwimMAC Carolina won the women’s 400m medley in 4:12.81. Brandon James, Christian Brown, Justin Lynch and Ryan Barsanti of Terrapins Swim Team won the men’s 400m medley relay in 3:45.50.
SwimMAC Carolina came out on top of the combined team scores with 394.5 points, followed by the Pleasanton Seahawks with 277 points, the Mission Viejo Nadadores with 231 points, King Aquatic Club with 219 points and Tualatin Hills Swim Club with 210 points.
