Every two years, each Zone invites athletes from underrepresented populations to participate in a three-day camp
program which includes pool training, motivational and educational sessions and team-building activities.
This year's Central Zone Diversity Select Camp was held in Oklahoma City at the OCCC pool from June 7 - 10, 2012. The camp was led by Head Coach John Yearwood and assistant coaches Adrian Dinis and Kaci McGuire. There were a total of 35 athletes in attendance at the camp represented by many different LSCs in the Central Zone.
Diversity Committee member Kathy Mendez helped put together a great camp tha
t included outreach opportunities for the campers to teach swim lessons to some of the local youth and included a trip to the OKC Memorial that proved to be a powerful experience for those in attendance.
