Holder wins Diversity Award

9/18/2012

Established in 2007, the Diversity Inclusion Award is presented to the person or group who has positively heightened the awareness of inclusion efforts through various modes and media resulting in the increase and successful participation of currently underrepresented groups in the sport.

The winner of this year’s award is a man who has been involved in swimming for over forty seven years. Coach Hosea Holder has coached swimmers who have reached many of their goals both in and out of the pool and have gone on to college.

Now retired after 26 years with the Pittsburgh City Parks Aquatics division he continues to coach six days a week developing competitive swimmers. He now coaches the children of his former swimmers.

Coach Holder had this to say when asked how rewarding it is coach.

“It is rewarding to reach out and influence so many young people’s lives and see them go on to be so successful and a credit to themselves, their family and their community and on to society.”

Dedication, commitment and hard work are the three principles that Coach Holder has lived by over his forty seven year coaching career.

Congratulations to Coach Hosea Holder for being named this year’s diversity award recipient at the USAS Convention held this past weekend in Greensboro, NC.
