Rose Bowl Aquatics Breaks All-Time Swim-a-Thon™ Fundraising Record
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The USA Swimming Foundation congratulates Rose Bowl Aquatics (Pasadena, Calif.) for breaking the all-time fundraising club record by raising over $118,000 as a result of their May 17, 2013 Swim-a-Thon™ event.
“Rose Bowl Aquatics is very proud of its team effort to achieve the highest Swim-a-Thon™ fundraising totals the past three years running,” said Rose Bowl Head Coach, Jeff Julian. “This success exemplifies our philosophy that, in order for good things to happen, swimmers, parents and coaches must work and bond together as a team.”
For the first time in history, the USA Swimming Foundation’s 2013 Swim-a-Thon™ fundraising program surpassed $5.7 million dollars in gross revenue for clubs participating in the program, and for the USA Swimming Foundation. With over 510 clubs hosting a Swim-a-Thon™ and nearly 29,000 swimmers participating, Swim-a-Thon™ increased its gross revenue by 21% from the previous year.
“It is amazing to see the extraordinary growth and success of the Swim-a-Thon™ program in the past two years,” said USA Swimming Foundation Executive Director, Debbie Hesse. “We are thrilled to see swim clubs hosting successful events that raise critical funds for their teams, while giving back to the USA Swimming Foundation’s mission of saving lives and building champions.”
As the official online partner since 2012, TeamUnify™ has been instrumental in helping grow the USA Swimming Foundation’s Swim-a-Thon™ program. Offering clubs a robust online fundraising platform, teams are receiving donations of over $60 per pledge for their Swim-a-Thon™ fundraising events.
In addition to the accomplishments of Rose Bowl Aquatics, the USA Swimming Foundation proudly recognizes Shadow Seals Swim Club (Seattle, Wash.) for earning the top spot with the “highest average dollar raised per athlete”. An incredible $665 per athlete was raised with just 12 swimmers participating in their March 2013 Swim-a-Thon™.

About the USA Swimming Foundation
The USA Swimming Foundation serves as the philanthropic arm of USA Swimming. Established in 2004, the Foundation works to strengthen the sport by saving lives and building champions—in the pool and in life. Whether we’re equipping our children with learn-to-swim skills through our Make a Splash initiative, or providing financial support to our heroes on the U.S. National Team, the USA Swimming Foundation aims to provide the wonderful experience of swimming to kids at all levels across the country.
Swim-a-Thon™ is the only official pledge-for-length swim program recognized by the USA Swimming Foundation. In order to host a pledge-for-length swimming event, participating organizations agree to sign a contract with the USA Swimming Foundation and donate a nominal fee to the USA Swimming Foundation of 5% of the gross revenue from their Swim-a-Thon™ event. The donation that is paid to the USA Swimming Foundation supports its mission to save lives and build champions—in the pool and in life.
