"Reaching Out' is the theme for the 2013 National Drowning Prevention Alliance (NDPA) Annual Symposium. Taking place in sunny Ft. Lauderdale, Florida from March 13-15 at the Bahia Del Mar Hotel, the NDPA Symposium is the leading national conference devoted to drowning prevention. This educational event is designed to offer attendees the best of the best in research, products, educational programming, outreach strategies, policy and code, international relations, and other topics related to drowning prevention. Opening address for the 2013 symposium will be given by Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a former recipient of the NDPA’s highest honor, the National Lighthouse awards, and whose tireless efforts helped to achieve passage of national legislation, the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool & Spa Safety Act.
The USA Swimming Foundation is proud to partner with the National Drowning Prevention Alliance through the USA Swimming Foundation’s Make a Splash Affiliate Coalition. As part of its overall efforts to spread the
message of drowning prevention throughout the nation, the NDPA helps spread the lifesaving message of learn-to-swim to its broad network of partners and constituents, allowing the USA Swimming Foundation to share its Make a Splash initiative with an expanded population.
The USA Swimming Foundation supports these efforts as a sponsor of NDPA’s Annual Symposium, and as a co-sponsor of the National Lifesaver of the Year Award, distributed annually in March.
