Coach Competencies - Focusing on Leadership Development

 

The Coaches' Leadership Clinic focuses on leadership development, by striving to support female coaches with varying levels of experience build their comfort and expertise in leadership skills on and off the deck. The clinic provides immersive educational sessions and interactive connection opportunities with fellow members of the USA Swimming community.

The clinic includes three virtual sessions and one in-person session.

This Coaches’ Leadership Clinic will focus on helping female coaches learn different skills so that they can improve their leadership capabilities. Whether you are in a new leadership position or have been a leader for years, the clinic will focus on educational facilitations that will engage and connect coaches from around the country. Join USA Swimming as we discuss some necessary building blocks to becoming great leaders on and off the deck.

Location: Three virtual events and one in-person event at the La Foret Conference and Retreat Center, Black Forest, Colorado 

 

Dates: 

  • October 23, 2024 | 1:00 pm ET (Zoom)
  • November 6, 2024 | 1:00 pm ET (Zoom)
  • November 15-17, 2024 (In-person)
  • December 4, 2024 | 1:00 pm ET (Zoom)

 

What to bring:  USA Swimming will provide you a full itinerary and packing list if you are selected, but beyond that, participants must arrive with a strong desire to learn, grow, and build connections with both the facilitators and other attendees.  

 

 

Cost

Cost to Attend:  $250.00.  Applicants will not be asked to submit payment until they are selected to attend. 


Attendees are responsible for the cost of the workshop and the cost of their flight to and from the Colorado Springs Airport.  If you are driving to the clinic, you will be responsible for any gas and tolls costs.  


USA Swimming will cover the costs of all meals, lodging and ground transportation that will take you to and from the Colorado Springs Airport. 


PLEASE NOTE:  If you fly into the Denver Airport, you will be responsible for your own transportation to get to La Foret for the clinic.

 

Scholarship: If you are selected for the clinic Scholarship, USA Swimming will cover the cost of ALL expenses (registration/fees, airfare, meals, lodging) 

Who is invited?

All coaches who meet the following criteria are encouraged to apply: 

  • Female USA Swimming coach member in good standing;
  • Passion to participate in a community of leaders;
  • Willing to be vulnerable and open to receiving and giving kind, specific and helpful feedback;
  • Comfortable participating in outdoor activities in a natural mountain setting;
  • Coaches with a minimum of 4 years coaching experience;
  • Must be 18 to attend; 
  • Any coach that is expecting or currently experiencing a change within their organization or their role

Please note the application process for the Coaches' Leadership Clinic has a scholarship available. The Clinic has limited space available. 4 of those will be eligible for a scholarship.

Any coach that is interested please fill out the application provided.  Your spot in the clinic is not secured until you have submitted your payment.

Scholarship

The Coaches' Leadership Clinic scholarship program is intended to help a deserving applicants participate in the leadership clinic at little-to-no cost. Scholarships are available for coaches who wish to attend the Coaches' Leadership Clinic in 2024.

 

The ideal applicant should have a demonstrated desire to grow in leadership, wellness and coaching concepts. 


Scholarships include:

  • Airfare/transportation to the event
  • Lodging
  • Meals
  • Registration/fees

 


Please note:

  • To apply for a scholarship, applicants must be current USA Swimming members in good standing;
  • The deadline for scholarship applications to be accepted is September 16, 2024; and
  • Individuals who receive scholarships will be notified the following week.

 

Scholarships are being awarded this year, contingent upon funding. Partial scholarships may be awarded to allow more candidates to participate. Scholarship spots are not guaranteed.
