TESTING ORGANIZATIONS

 

USADA

USADA is the non-profit, independent and non-governmental entity responsible for the testing and results management process in the U.S. for athletes in the Olympic and Paralympic Movement, upholding the Olympic ideal of fair play, and representing the interests of athletes. USADA is dedicated to preserving the integrity of sport through research initiatives and educational programs. The agency manages an Athlete Express phone hotline (719-785-2000) and Global Drug Reference Online (www.GlobalDRO.com), conducts educational sessions with National Governing Bodies and their athletes, and proactively distributes a multitude of educational materials, such as curriculums, themed brochures, nutrition and dietary guides, easy-reference wallet cards for the prohibited substance list, periodic newsletters, and protocol and policy reference publications, all of which can be found at www.usada.org.

 

FINA

FINA: International Federation for all Aquatic Sports. Athletes competing in swimming, water polo, diving and synchronized swimming must abide by FINA's rules. FINA's Doping Control Rules:  Fina.org
 

WADA

The World Anti-Doping Agency was created in 1999 to harmonize doping control rules for athletes in all sports and countries. wada-ama.org
 

NCAA

There are differences between NCAA doping control rules and rules for athletes participating in USA Swimming competitions. Athletes should check with USADA regarding compliance for all USA Swimming/FINA competitions and their NCAA physicians/trainers/coaches regarding NCAA rules.

MEDICATION STATUS

USADA ATHLETE EXPRESS/Drug Reference Line

Call the USADA Athlete Express/Drug Reference Line at 1-800-233-0393 or 719-785-2000. Hours of operation are 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. (Mountain Time), Monday through Friday. If a staff member doesn't answer your call, leave a message with a phone number, the name of the substance(s), and indicate that the athlete is a swimmer and s/he will return your call. You may call the line at anytime after hours, and your call will be returned as soon as possible.

 

USADA GLOBAL DRUG REFERENCE ONLINE

Athletes, parents, coaches and sports medicine professionals may check the status of a medication/product ingredient online at USADA’s website: www.globaldro.com.  This can be used at any time and is a simple way to check the status of most medications/product ingredients. You should print the status of the medication/ingredient for your records.

 

USADA Drug Reference Email

Individuals may email USADA at drugreference@usada.org to inquire as to the status of their medications/product ingredients.
