2022 Golden Goggles at a Glance: Female Athlete of the Year

The 2022 Golden Goggle Awards are set to take place in New York City on Monday, September 21, 2022. With the voting deadline of September 30 quickly approaching, here is a breakdown of the nominees for this year's Female Athlete of the Year award:
Katie Ledecky
Ledecky won gold in all four of her events at this year’s World Championships. She also became the first swimmer to ever five-peat as a world champion in a single event when she won the 800m freestyle in Budapest.
Katie Grimes
Grimes made a splash in her World Championships debut, taking home two silver medals in the pool and finishing fifth in the 10K: the second-best showing by an American woman in the event in FINA World Open Water Championships history.

Regan Smith
Smith won the women’s 100m Backstroke and also took home gold as a part of the women’s 4x100m Medley Relay.

Lilly King
King claimed three gold medals in Budapest, including taking the world title in the women’s 200m Breaststroke.

Alex Walsh
Walsh won the women’s 200m IM and left Budapest with three gold medals overall.

Torri Huske
With Huske’s medal total of three gold and three bronze, she became the most decorated female swimmer of the 2022 FINA Swimming World Championships and only the fourth American woman in history to earn six medals in a single World Championships.
