Mike Novell is an accomplished coach with over two decades of experience in athlete development, high-performance coaching, and team leadership. He has a proven track record of guiding swimmers to success at the state, national, and international levels while fostering excellence within club programs.

Since 2013 Mike has been a part of the leadership at Fort Collins Area Swim Team starting as the Head Age Group Coach and progressing to the Head Coach . Under his leadership, FAST athletes have achieved State, Sectional, and Junior National titles, set National Age Group and Colorado State records. His contributions were instrumental in FAST earning its first USA Swimming Silver and Gold Medal Club Excellence status.

Prior to FAST, Mike was the Head Coach at Castle Rock Swimming, where he expanded the team’s competitive success, producing its first Junior National qualifiers in over a decade and preparing multiple athletes for collegiate swimming careers. His coaching career also includes positions with Sun Devil Aquatics and Arizona State University.

Mike’s career is defined by his commitment to athlete development, technical excellence, and fostering a culture of success. He is eager to bring his expertise to USA Swimming, supporting the advancement of the sport and the next generation of competitive swimmers.

Mike is an Alum of Arizona State University and enjoys spending time with his wife Mackenzie, who is a swim coach.  They have four children; Molly, Robert, Wyatt, and Cameron.
