He is currently a Wealth Management Advisor with Northwestern Mutual in Cleveland, Ohio. His practice specializes in financial and investment planning for medical and legal professionals, corporate executives, and business owners. He has a degree in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering from Penn State University. After working for Halliburton Services for 7 years, he changed careers and used his interpersonal and engineering skills to develop a successful Financial Planning practice for 33 years.
Jay’s past volunteer experiences have included serving on the Northwestern Mutual Field Advisory Board, (chair long term care committee, field recruiting committee, and financial planning committee), the Million Dollar Roundtable Foundation Board (current trustee), Cornerstone of Hope - regional grief support center in Northeast Ohio (development chair and executive committee), USMS Swimming Saves Lives Board (chair), USMS investment committee, Lake Erie Local Masters Swim committee Board of Directors (chair), Penn State University Alumni counsel, Penn State University College of Earth and Mineral Sciences alumni (board chair).
Jay enjoys fun swimming experiences in Lake Erie, and Northeaster Ohio. His love of swimming led him to USMS as a fitness swimmer, open water distance swimmer, competitive pool swimmer, and USMS volunteer both on the local level and national level. He is constantly working to improve as a master’s swimmer who has even swum across Lake Erie (2016) as part of a six swimmer relay team to raise money for adult learn to swim programs. He is an Ironman Triathlon Finisher.
What he has learned thru all his experiences is, “Whether we are celebrating our successes, supporting our peers, helping others to learn to swim, improving our ability to swim, or offering moral or financial support, when we struggle in our swimming communities, swimming together unites us all and helps us care and connect with others and do things we never thought we could.” He is honored represent USMS and its Adult Learn to Swim initiatives as we partner with USA Swimming Foundation.
When Jay is not swimming his other interests include, everything Penn State, improving his piano skills as an adult, and playing in a SKAT card league. Jay and this family currently reside in Olmsted Township, Ohio.
