National Teamers Ready to Race Friday and Saturday at FINA Champions Series in Indy

Twenty-three members of the U.S. National Team – including 13 Olympic gold medalists – will compete May 31-June 1 at the FINA Champions Series meet at the Indiana University Natatorium, on the campus of IUPUI in Indianapolis.
The meet in Indy is the third and final stop of the series. The first two meets were held April 27-28 in Guangzhou, China and May 11-12 in Budapest.
FINA invited top athletes from around the world to compete. The format is finals only over the course of two nights, four swimmers per event. For individual races, $10,000 is awarded for first place, $8,000 for second, $6,000 for third and $5,000 for fourth.
Here’s a look at the all-star cast of American swimmers who are slated to compete starting Friday at the legendary Natatorium:
Michael Andrew
Hometown: Lawrence, Kan.
Club: Race Pace Club
Coach: Peter Andrew
Won five relay medals - four gold - at the 2018 FINA World Championships (25m). Gold medalist in the 50m free at the 2018 Pan Pacific Championships. Winner of the men's high point trophy at 2018 Phillips 66 Nationals and became the first man since 2008 to win at least four titles at a single Nationals or Olympic Trials.

Kathleen Baker

Broke the world record and won gold in the 400m medley relay, silver in the 100m back and bronze in the 200m back at the 2017 FINA World Championships. Won silver in the 100m back and gold in the 400m medley relay at the 2016 Olympic Games.

Won four golds and a bronze at the 2017 FINA World Championships, and helped break world record in the women’s 400m medley relay.
