About the USOPC's Diversity & Inclusion Scorecards:
As the steward of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic movements, the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee recognizes the need to achieve increased diversity. We recognize our continued success depends on ensuring the inclusion of all Americans. The intent of the USOPC’s Diversity & Inclusion program and D&I Scorecards to increase performance and ensure long-term support for National Governing Bodies, High Performance Management Organizations and Team USA athletes.

In order to achieve these goals, D&I related initiatives are included in the USOPC’s strategic operating plan. Goals and objectives within the plan are established with measurable outcomes and deadlines for completion.

Throughout the last decade, U.S. demographics have become more racially and ethnically diverse and the USOPC embraces this change. The USOPC D&I Scorecard is one of the ways the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic family has committed to meeting its goal of reflecting the nation’s growing diversity.

The scorecard is designed for the USOPC, NGBs and HPMOs to easily identify opportunities to become more diverse and inclusive as it relates to athletes, coaches, staff, board of directors and membership. It will assist in creating diversity plans and identifying the best use of resources for D&I success. The scorecard also allows for comparison of NGBs and HPMOs in a manner that respects the uniqueness of each sport and their resources.

USOPC Commitment To Diversity & Inclusion:
Diversity and inclusion is fundamental to the USOPC’s mission: To support U.S. Olympic and Paralympic athletes in achieving sustained competitive excellence while demonstrating the values of the Olympic Movement, thereby inspiring all Americans.

Diversity & Inclusion Is In Our DNA:
The USOPC was reorganized by the Ted Stevens Olympic and Amateur Sports Act, originally enacted in 1978. Pursuant to Section 220511 of the act, the USOPC is required to submit a report to Congress every quadrennium detailing its operations for the preceding four years. This report must include information regarding the participation of women, people with disabilities and racial/ethnic minorities in NGB athletic, governance and management activities. The report must also include descriptions of programs and initiatives that encourage the participation of women, people with disabilities and racial/ethnic minorities within each NGB and HPMO.

Additionally, by signing the Performance Partnership Agreement, each NGB and HPMO is required to submit its diversity data annually.
