The Swim Brothers Hit Half-Way Mark

A quarter-of-a-million kilometers in just two weeks — and the Swim Brothers are only halfway done. Joe and John Zemaitis have been cranking out as many as three 10K swims a day to bring awareness to water safety and open water swimming as well as to help raise funds to support the USA Swimming Foundation.
The Swim Brothers launched the Ultimate Swim-a-Thon in Hawaii and have swum in 24 more states since then. These successful swims have also come with their fair share of obstacles including a flat tire and plenty of rough waters. Notably, they crashed a family reunion during their Montana finish. The family members were helpful and fun as the brothers ended up on their private property in Montana. John and Joe had the opportunity to provide gas to a stranded driver during their travels and even had to redo their swim in Minnesota the following day after lightning put them to a halt.

These obstacles haven’t stopped Joe and John from continuing onward. They are scheduled to hit 25 more states, wrapping up in Arizona. The brothers know that this won’t be easy, but are optimistic about the next couple of weeks.
"We are at the halfway point of the adventure. We have had some great swims, met some awesome people, and pushed ourselves beyond what we thought we could do,” said Joe. “So far, it's been tough, but our training has paid off and we have met all the challenges so far. Looking forward to the second half and a strong finish."
With a goal to swim 10K in all 50 States within 30 days, the Swim Brothers are hoping to raise $10,000 for the USA Swimming Foundation and currently have raised over 73% of that amount.
