USA Swimming Foundation Awards $647,522 in 2023 Learn-to-Swim Grant Funding
The USA Swimming Foundation, the philanthropic arm of USA Swimming, today announced $647,522 is awarded to 104 swim lesson providers via its Learn-to-Swim Grant Program.
“The USA Swimming Foundation is proud to add to the nearly $7 million in Learn-to-Swim grant funding and expansive network of programs,” USA Swimming Foundation Senior Director of Development Elaine Calip said. “These funds directly impact programs to help the Foundation’s mission of Saving Lives, Building Champions and Impacting Communities through free or reduced-cost swim lessons.”
More than 340 applications were vetted through a competitive annual review process, distributing funds across 29 states to provide more than 14,000 individuals the opportunity to learn the lifesaving skill of water safety.
Youth Learn-to-Swim grants will be distributed to 69 providers across 25 states. These programs will receive a total of $517,522 in funding to support youth programs offering free or reduced-cost swim lessons. It is estimated to impact more than 12,000 children with the opportunity to learn how to swim.
“This year, the Grant Review Committee vetted more than 340 applications, producing a superior applicant pool and a highly competitive selection process,” USA Swimming Program Director of Pre-Competitive Programs Tina Dessart said. “We are proud to support the 2023 class of Learn-to-Swim grant recipients who provide opportunities for youth and adults to learn the lifesaving skill of swimming.”
For the second year, the USA Swimming Foundation has awarded funding to programs focusing on Adult Learn-to-Swim efforts, granting $130,000 to 35 programs across 24 states, providing an estimated 2,487 adults the opportunity to learn how to swim.
