USA Swimming Announces Roster for 2023 Pan American Games
Colorado Springs, Colo. – USA Swimming today announced the 36-member roster set to represent the United States at the 2023 Pan American Games pool competition October 21-25 in Santiago, Chile.
This year’s roster is highlighted by five Tokyo Olympic medalists, including gold medalist Brooks Curry (Atlanta, Ga./Dynamo Swim Club), silver medalists Erica Sullivan (Las Vegas, Nev./Longhorn Aquatics), Jay Litherland (Alpharetta, Ga./Sun Devil Swimming) and Paige Madden (Mobile, Ala./New York Athletic Club), and bronze medalist Catie DeLoof (Grosse Pointe, Mich./New York Athletic Club).
Athletes for this year’s Pan American Games team were selected from their performances at the 2023 Phillips 66 National Championships in June. Complete selection procedures can be found here.

The Pan American Games are the world’s third-largest international multisport Games; they are only surpassed in size and scope by the Olympic Summer Games and the Asian Games. The first Pan American Games were held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1951 and the inaugural Parapan American Games were held in Mexico City in 1999. Both the Pan Am and Parapan Am Games are held every four years for the athletes of the 41 PASO member nations, in the year preceding the Olympic and Paralympic Summer Games.
Leading the Pan American Games team will be coaches Brent Arckey (Sarasota Sharks), who most recently led the 2022 Junior Pan Pacs team in Hawaii, Mark Bernardino (NC State), Stephanie Juncker (University of Louisville), Jeremy Linn (Nation’s Capital Swim Club) and Jake Shrum (University of Virginia).
Eight athletes from the 2019 Pan American Games team went on to qualify for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team. Overall, the U.S. team left the Pan American Games in Lima, Peru with 44 medals – 21 gold, 15 silver and eight bronze.
All Pan American Games roster nominations are pending approval of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee. The Open Water roster for the 2023 Pan American Games will be announced at a later date.
