National Age Group Average Times by Club Size

Learn more about how athletes perform relative to club size by diving into the data below. The interactive data graph shows the median time of a given event based on gender and club size. Club sizes can be broken down into 1-75, 76-200, 201-499 and 500+ athlete members.
Tips for using the graph:
- Select different events, competition categories, club sizes and age groups to better understand the national median times.
- Hold down the “Ctrl” key on your keyboard to click more than one filter.
- It's important to note the median time here is the 50th percentile of all data in a selection, not the traditional arithmetic mean or traditional average some of us are used to.
- The sharpest drop-off of any club size appears to be between 76-200 and 201-499.
- In a large number of events, you can see clubs with 1-75 swimmers tend to outperform clubs with 76-200 swimmers, especially in the older age groups.
