Highlighting the roster are medalists from the 2023 World Aquatics Championships, including individual world champions Kate Douglass (Pelham, N.Y./New York Athletic Club) and Hunter Armstrong (Dover, Ohio/New York Athletic Club/California Aquatics), as well as medalists Nic Fink (Morristown, N.J./Metro Atlantic Aquatic Club), Katie Grimes (Las Vegas, Nev./Sandpipers of Nevada) and Carson Foster (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mason Manta Rays).
Grimes, Douglass, and Claire Curzan (Cary, N.C./Alto Swim Club) have a packed schedule ahead of them as Curzan will compete in six events, while Douglass and Grimes will take on five events in the Qatari capital.
Athletes named for these world championships were chosen based on times swum between October 1, 2022, and November 1, 2023. Complete selection procedures for this meet are located here.
With NCAA conference championship meets occurring soon after and the 2024 Olympic Games just months later, athletes who met the selection criteria and were offered the opportunity to compete at these world championships were faced with difficult decisions based on their collegiate schedule or training plans for Paris.
USA Swimming will announce open water athletes for these world championships later.
Initially slated for November of this year, World Aquatics pushed this edition of the championships to early 2024 after postponing the 2022 World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan to 2023. Please visit the event page for more information on the 2024 World Aquatics Championships.
