Toyota U.S. Open Brings Top Swimmers to Greensboro

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – This year’s Toyota U.S. Open is poised to be one of the largest and most competitive meets in the United States before next year’s U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Swimming. 845 athletes from across the U.S. and around the world take to the Greensboro Aquatic Center pool starting tonight through December 2 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
After a busy summer that included the World Aquatics Championships, the World Aquatics Junior Championships, the LEN (European Swimming Federation) U23 Championships, and the Pan American Games, the Toyota U.S. Open is shaping up as the pre-eminent swim meet this fall. Along with some of the biggest names in swimming from around the world, the U.S. will have a strong contingent as well, including:
- 68 current U.S. National Team members
- 34 U.S. Olympians
- 4 Americans who won individual world champion titles at the 2023 World Aquatics Championships
- 29 American record holders
- 26 National Junior Team members
Five events will also feature the current world record holder competing in them, including Americans Katie Ledecky (Bethesda, Md./Gator Swim Club), Caeleb Dressel (Green Cove Springs, Fla.), and Lilly King (Evanston, Ind./Indiana Swim Club), as well as Summer McIntosh of Canada.
The competition begins at 6 p.m. ET today with the 800-meter freestyle. Thursday-Saturday prelims will begin at 9 a.m. ET, while finals start at 6 p.m. ET.
