National Teamers Post Season-Best Times on Day Two of Club Excellence Challenge Series

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. –
Day two of the 2024 Club Excellence Challenge Series wrapped up Thursday night, seeing U.S. National Team members Caeleb Dressel (Green Cove Springs, Fla./Gator Swim Club), Katie Ledecky (Bethesda, Md./Gator Swim Club), and other veterans post personal best times for 2024. The four-day competition takes place across three sites nationwide.

Women’s 100m Freestyle – FINAL  
1 – Torri Huske (Arlington, Va./Arlington Aquatic Club), 53.33 
2 – Abbey Weitzeil (Santa Clarita, Calif./California Aquatics), 53.56 
3 – Catie Deloof (Grosse Pointe, Mich./New York Athletic Club), 54.06 

Race Notes:  
• Huske and Weitzeil are competing in Irvine, while DeLoof is swimming in Atlanta. 
• Weitzeil’s swim is her best time this calendar year.

Men’s 100m Freestyle – FINAL
1 – Caeleb Dressel (Green Cove Springs, Fla./Gator Swim Club), 48.30 
2 – Jack Alexy (Mendham, N.J./California Aquatics), 48.37 
3 – Jorge Iga (MEX), 48.57  

Race Notes:  
• Dressel and Iga are competing in Atlanta, Alexy is competing in Irvine.
• Dressel’s time is 0.5 seconds faster than his previous best time this season.
• Dressel has now won back-to-back 100m Freestyle titles in USA Swimming national meets between this swim and his victory at the TYR Pro Swim Series San Antonio.

Women’s 100m Breaststroke – FINAL
1 – Anna Elendt (GER), 1:06.82 
2 – Mona McSharry (IRL), 1:07.08 
3 – Lydia Jacoby (Seward, Alaska/Sward Tsunami Swim Club), 1:07.69 

Race Notes:  
• Elendt and Jacoby are competing in Austin, McSharry is competing in Atlanta.

Men’s 100m Breaststroke – FINAL
1 – Evgenii Somov (Albany Armada Aquatics), 59.34 
2 – Michael Andrew (Encinitas, Calif./MA Swim Academy), 59.87 
3 – Nic Fink (Morristown, N.J./Metro Atlantic Aquatic Club), 1:00.35 

Race Notes:  
• Somov is racing in Atlanta, Andrew is racing in Irvine, and Fink is racing in Austin.
• Andrew’s time is his fastest swim of 2024.

Women’s 200m Butterfly – FINAL
1 – Dakota Luther (Austin, Texas/Longhorn Aquatics), 2:07.81 
2 – Kelly Pash (Carmel, Ind./Longhorn Aquatics), 2:09.11 
3 – Rachel Klinker (Lexington, Ky./California Aquatics), 2:09.31 

Race Notes:  
• Luther and Pash are racing in Austin; Klinker is racing in Irvine.
• Luther’s swim is a personal season this season. She becomes the fourth American to go under 2:08 this season.

Men’s 200m Butterfly – FINAL
1 – Martin Espernberger (AUT), 1:56.12 
2 – Mason Laur (Naples, Fla./University of Florida), 1:57.10 
3 – Dare Rose (Jersey City, N.J./California Aquatics), 1:58.19 

Race Notes:  
• Espernberger and Laur are competing in Atlanta, while Rose is racing in Irvine.
• The swim marked Laur’s first long-course meter 200 Butterfly since his gold-medal swim at the 2023 Pan American Games.

Women’s 400m Freestyle – FINAL
1 – Katie Ledecky (Bethesda, Md./Gator Swim Club), 3:59.44 
2 – Madi Mintenko (Colorado Springs, Colo./Pikes Peak Aquatics), 4:08.68 
3 – Bella Sims (Las Vegas, Nev./Gator Swim Club), 4:08.88

Race Notes:  
• Ledecky and Mintenko are competing in Atlanta, while Cox is swimming in Austin.
• Ledecky’s time is a new season-best, shaving 1.97 seconds off her swim at last month’s TYR Pro Swim Series San Antonio.
• Ledecky becomes the first American to go under 4:00 in 2024.

Men’s 400m Freestyle – FINAL
1 – Alfonso Mestre (VEN), 3:48.10 
2 – Kieran Smith (Ridgefield, Texas/Kentucky Aquatics), 3:49.00 
3 – Bobby Finke (Clearwater, Fla./St. Petersburg Aquatics), 3:49.01 

Race Notes: 
• The top-3 finishers are all competing in Atlanta.
• Finke’s time is his fastest swim since the 2022 Phillips 66 National Championships. This swim marks just the third time in his career going under 3:50.
