USA Swimming Announces 2024 World Aquatics Short Course Swimming Championships (25m) Roster
USA Swimming, the National Governing Body for the sport of swimming in the United States, today released its roster for the 2024 World Aquatics Short Course Swimming Championships (25m), which takes place December 10-15 at the Duna Arena in Budapest, Hungary.
The roster features 21 Paris 2024 Olympians, including Jack Alexy (Mendham, N.J./University of California-Berkeley), Carson Foster (Cincinnati, Ohio/Longhorn Aquatics), Regan Smith (Lakeville, Minn./Longhorn Aquatics), and Gretchen Walsh (Nashville, Tenn./University of Virginia), among others.
Multiple reigning short course world champions will be representing the U.S., including Tokyo and Paris Olympians Kate Douglass (Pelham, N.Y./ University of Virginia), Torri Huske (Arlington, Va./Stanford University), Lilly King (Evansville, Ind./Indiana Swim Club), and Kieran Smith (Ridgefield, Conn./Gator Swim Club). Last year’s U.S. short course worlds roster led the medal table with 36 total medals.
“This is an incredibly talented roster looking to end 2024 with another strong statement on the world stage,” said USA Swimming Chief Operating Officer and interim Chief Executive Officer Shana Ferguson. "These athletes are no strangers to the fast swimming overseas, and we are thrilled to support their return to international competition as we turn our attention to LA 2028."
Making their senior-level debuts in a World Aquatics international competition will be Daniel Matheson (Peoria, Ariz./Arizona State University) and AJ Pouch (Henderson, Nev./Virginia Tech).
The coaching staff will be named at a later date.
