Devonie Pitre is what we call a lifer in the sport of swimming, starting on a summer league program before joining year-round at eight years old. She swam competitively through high school and college at the University of the Pacific, and upon graduation, coached high school before being recruited to a year-round team (Coto Coyotes). Continuing to take on communications roles in her coaching career, Devonie decided to go back to school to earn her master’s degree in Mass Communication.
After graduating from Louisiana State University with her MMC, a Safe Sport Communications Coordinator position opened at USA Swimming. She jumped at the opportunity to give back to the sport she spent so much of her life dedicated to. Within six months, her role expanded to lead communications within the Sport Development division, where she continues her work to promote grassroots members and programs.
Prior to joining USA Swimming, Devonie worked for ExxonMobil, Cambia Health Solutions and Louisiana State University.
