Twichell, who is regarded as one of the most decorated open water swimmers in American history, has been an athlete member of USA Swimming for over a decade. Her resume features five Open Water World Championships medals, eight open water national titles, a top-10 finish at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 Open Water 10K and three appearances at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Swimming.

Twichell is a 2011 graduate of Duke University, where she swam and competed at NCAA Division I Championships for all four years.
