The USA Swimming University houses courses and certifications to benefit and educate USA Swimming members. Coaches will find all of their membership requirements, as well as certification programs for the American Development Model and head coaching responsibilities. Coaches can also find a variety of professional development options, including Coaching Mini Courses and the Legacy Project, which features lessons from some of USA Swimming's most legendary coaches. Many resources are free for members. All are welcome to browse the course catalog for inviting content.

Summer League Coaching

This course is designed for new and returning summer league coaches who are looking to grow their skills and provide the best possible experience for their swimmers.

A 90-minute, self-paced online course that covers:

• The principles of quality coaching
• Fundamentals of stroke
• Strategies for working with kids
• Communication with parents and other coaches
• Practice and season planning

Officials' Education

These courses are based on the USA Swimming rulebook and offer a skills-based approach to officiating. There is an exam at the end of each course to test knowledge.

Offered for the four main officiating roles:

• Stroke and Turn Judge

• Administrative Official
• Referee

Coach Development Academy

USA Swimming’s Coach Development Academy (CDA) is a transformative in-person retreat designed to help swim coaches grow into more effective teachers, leaders, and communicators through specific, actionable coaching skills.

The USA Swimming Next Gen Instagram account aims to help build the next generation of great coaches by sharing tips, tricks, drills, and sets from coaches across the country. The account also highlights the National Junior Team and other up and coming athletes.
